AROL
Unveils Ultraclean Rotary Capper
January, 08, 2007
Los Angeles, CA –AROL S.p.A. unveils
the NEXT Ultraclean Rotary Capper for applying pre-threaded
plastic caps on glass, PET, and HDPE bottles.
The
NEXT Ultraclean Capper is available in both free-standing
and a turret configuration from 15 to 36 heads with
production speeds of 500 to 1,200 bottles per minute.
It has been designed to be completely washable, from
the upper part of the piston-holding cam to the closure
processing plane. All metal parts are stainless steel
and all plastic parts comply with the FDA regarding
suitability for food contact.
The
NEXT Ultraclean does not require continuous lubrication
in the capping area. The preventive maintenance schedule
for the upper turret – with minimum intervals
of 3,000 hours – ensures the complete restoration
of wear components and eliminates any requirement for
additional lubrication. This is achieved with a new
type of oil lubrication, utilizing double seals and
a new piston design with wash-proof chambers and advanced
polymer bushings.
All
lubricants are FDA-H1 certified. The open architecture
design simplifies routine maintenance, while ensuring
the complete sanitizing of mechanical components and
provides quick removal of the piston assemblies.
For
installations in an aseptic environment, the turret
is equipped with a separation labyrinth between rotating
flange and stationary components located just above
the capping area. The capping head’s bellows seal
together with the multi-lipped vari-seal, protects against
the ingress of product or cleaning solution as well
as the egress of lubricant from within the capping head
providing for the cleanest of operating environments
in the product area.
The
NEXT Ultraclean Capper applies caps from 1 to 3 plus
threads utilizing a mechanical gear controlled by the
carousel, or a separate independent motor-drive for
the pistons. The cap feeding is carried out by a stainless
steel centrifugal or pocket-type sorter, depending on
the special features of the cap and of the required
production speed.
The
sorter, cap chute, distribution head and Pick &
Place device are integral with the capping turret, allowing
for height adjustment of the capping system without
individual adjustment. The system is equipped with a
no-cap photocell, mechanical selector, and supplementary
ejection device to avoid the passage of upside-down
caps.
The
capping head design with reduced inertial mass, together
with the option for controlled spindle speeds, guarantees
reliable and consistent application torque values at
all operating speeds. The static torque adjustment can
be carried out without removing the capping heads or
using any tools and is visually verified by the scaled
optical ring. This guarantees versatility, outstanding
precision and fast adjustments by the operator.
